BYXELKROK'S NEW HARBOUR (1937)

In 1937, Byxelkrok's new harbour was completed following one of the largest investments in the village´s history. The breakwater was extended, a 180-metre quay was built, the harbour basin was deepened, and a new slipway was constructed. The extensive improvements increased both the safety and the capacity of the harbour for fishing vessels and other ships

The project was carried out in two phases and cost a total of SEK 240,000, equivalent to approximatelyy SEK 9 million in today's money. For comparison, Bohlins pier was estimated to cost around SEK 45 million  in 2018. The completion of the new harbour in 1937 laid the foundation for the modern harbour that continues to characterise Byxelkrok today.
